International Conference commemorates the 80th Anniversary of the End of World War II in the Philippines

MANILA ─ The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) and the Philippine World War II Memorial Foundation (PhilWar Foundation) will hold the International Conference for the 80th Anniversary of World War II entitled War & Memory: 80 Years After, on 18-19 February 2025 at the Lyceum of the Philippines University in Intramuros, Manila.

This conference coincides with the 80th Anniversary of the End of World War II in the Philippines that will be commemorated throughout 2025.

Historian James W. Zobel from the MacArthur Memorial Museum & Library will give the Keynote Lecture. Conference topics will include papers on Prelude to War (Pre-1941), Philippine Defense Campaign (1941-1942), Japanese Occupation in the Philippines (1941-1945), the Rise of the Resistance, Liberation Campaign (October 1944 to September 1945), Post-War Situation, Problems, and Issues, and the Memorialization and Legacies of the War.

This conference is convened by Dr. Ricardo T. Jose of the University of the Philippines Diliman Department of History and Ms. Desiree Ann C. Benipayo of the Philippine World War II Memorial Foundation & Memorare Manila 1945 in partnership with the National Historical Commission of the Philippines.
